Four generations of Kolkmanns currently live and work at the 42 hectare wine estate. Love and passion for wine making and the respect and affection for one another makes them a unique team. Today Gerhard and Horst Kolkmann manage the estate. They still share the same vision that Horst Kolkmann Senior had when he founded the winery in the Wagram wine region in 1964. The Wagram stretches for over 30km along the Danube river in lower Austria, 30 minutes west of Vienna, as a distinct geological feature. It is composed of an up to 20 meters thick layer of “Loss” formed over the substrate of marine deposits and river gravels (the name Wagram meaning “shore”). With its consistent weather and climatic patterns of cool nights and hot summers, it offers ideal conditions for vine cultivation.
The Kolkmanns have developed a brand new tasting room and wine shop, with magnificent views of the surrounding vineyards, offering the perfect setting for wine tastings and events.
